On December 20, 2025, the Montgomery Participatory Defense Hub gathered for something deeper than a meeting we gathered to celebrate freedom.
The Time Saved Party was created to honor the real impact of collective organizing. Through Participatory Defense, families and supporters stood together in courtrooms, meetings, phone calls, and moments of uncertainty and because of that unity, people came home. Time that could’ve been spent incarcerated was instead spent with loved ones, at dinner tables, on holidays, and in everyday life.
Kayla Underwood, Patrion Jones, Ra’Quavion Brown, Monique Drain Moses, Latoya Bellamy, Danielle Anderson, Dennis Jones, Rickey Jones, Patrion Brown, Durell Taunton, DJ Taunton, Christopher Jones, Chaundra Horace, Joseph David and Kim Robinson gathered and connected by shared effort and shared victories. Each person in the room represented support rides to court, words of encouragement, organizing meetings, showing up when it mattered most.
We hosted the event because Participatory Defense is about more than legal outcomes; it restores dignity and reminds families they are not alone. The “time saved” we celebrate represents birthdays kept, parents present, and families staying together because a community refused to stay silent.
The night carried pride, relief, and gratitude. It was a chance to pause and see what happens when people organize instead of isolate. The Time Saved Party honored past wins, but more importantly, it fueled the commitment to keep showing up for one another.
