Proud to highlight our family Metro Atlanta Participatory Defense (MAP) in this video! These are a few of the many success stories of how MAP is building power for and with justice-impacted people, their families, and communities.

MAP is a major resource for community in Atlanta fighting back against their punitive court system. Led by Black women who were victims to this unjust punishment, our family MAP is providing families with serious material and emotional support. Weekly meetings, workshops to build social biography packets, court support at every stage of a case, discovery review, guidance on resources, organizing against systemic chains - a real movement of love, empowerment, protection and abolition. Thank you to MAP, Barred Business, National Bail Out & the many organizations in Atlanta for their work!

“Participatory defense is really important in Atlanta because our city has one of the highest probation populations. Folks who have cases, they're put on probation, then tied into this system. Whether not paying fines or violating probation, it creates an unfortunate circle. Participatory defense helps folks with their cases and figures out their options. Through that, we wrap around the community and help our people.” Tia - MAP Participatory Defense Organizer and Founding Core Member
